The perfect party appetizer for the holidays made with lean beef tenderloin, creamy yogurt, garlicky crostini, and topped with dried figs.
I RECEIVED FREE SAMPLES OF SIGGI’S YOGURT MENTIONED IN THIS POST. BY POSTING THIS RECIPE I AM ENTERING A RECIPE CONTEST SPONSORED BY SIGGI’S YOGURT AND AM ELIGIBLE TO WIN PRIZES ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONTEST. I WAS NOT COMPENSATED FOR MY TIME.
Woot woot it’s Friiiiiiidaaayyyyy! I’m taking a trip down to Birmingham this weekend and looking forward to checking out some new places along with some of the usual favorites. I hope you all have some awesome plans for the weekend, too!
I have another delicious Siggi’s® recipe for you today and must say that this is one of my favorite recipes I’ve made recently because it just exceeded all expectations. Seriously. The idea of yogurt and beef tenderloin together may seem odd but trust me on this one. This is a must-try recipe for upcoming holiday gatherings and parties.
The siggi’s® Fig & Lemon Zest yogurt stole my heart when I first tried it at the Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo this year. Probably has something to do with my general love for figs and it being 4% milkfat, which is the richest of all the siggi’s® yogurts. A 4.4 ounce container is 120 calories with 5 grams of fat, 8 grams of sugar, 10 grams of protein, and 15% of the recommended daily value for calcium! You can find this flavor at Whole Foods stores.
siggi’s® thick and creamy Fig & Lemon skyr (pronounced skeer) is a perfect match for the tender beef and garlicky, crunchy french bread. Each piece of toasted bread gets a dollop of the yogurt before being topped with a slice of beef tenderloin and dried fig! Hopefully, your bread won’t have as many large air pockets as mine did…makes it a bit messy but still tasty 🙂

Beef Tenderloin & Fig Crostini
Ingredients
For beef:
- 14 ounces beef tenderloin
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- pinch of salt
For Crostini:
- 12 pieces of french bread cut 1/2 inch thick
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
- 4.4 ounces siggi's Fig & Lemon Zest yogurt
- 3 dried mission figs sliced into thin pieces
Instructions
- 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Place beef tenderloin in a shallow dish and coat with olive oil, garlic, black pepper and just a pinch of salt, being sure to rub into all sides of the beef. Allow to sit for 20 minutes.
- 2. Heat a large, oven-safe skillet on medium heat and once pan is hot, carefully place beef in skillet. Sear beef on each side for 1 minute, turning with tongs. Place skillet on the middle oven rack and roast for 18-20 minutes or until a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat reads 150 degrees F (for medium-well doneness).
- 3. Remove skillet from oven and place beef on a plate, allowing it to rest for 5 minutes before slicing into 1/4 inch thick slices. Once sliced, keep beef warm by covering it with aluminum foil.
- 4. Turn oven broiler on high. Combine the olive oil, garlic, and thyme in small bowl. Place slices of french bread on a baking sheet and using a silicone pastry brush, coat one side of each piece of bread with the olive oil mixture. Once all pieces are coated, you can rub them together to help release more of the oils from the garlic. Place baking sheet on middle oven rack and broil for about 4-5 minutes or until each piece is golden brown around the edges. Pay close attention so bread doesn't burn. Remove from oven and place bread on a serving platter.
- 5. Use a teaspoon to place a dollop of Fig & Lemon yogurt onto the center of each piece of bread. Place one piece of beef on top of the yogurt, gently pressing down to spread to yogurt. Garnish each crostini with a sliced fig and fresh thyme leaves. Best if serve immediately, but can be kept refrigerated until ready to use, then reheated (see notes for reheating instructions) .
