I know, I know. You probably come across a lot of recipes that say “Best Ever” or “Ultimate” or something of the sorts. But really, these ARE the Best Baked Meatballs.
Why?
Well, several reasons.
- They’re super easy to make—30 minutes is all you need!
- There’s CHEESE inside.
- They’re full of flavor.
Let’s make some meatballs, y’all!
Making Homemade Meatballs
Making the meatballs doesn’t take much time at all. Throw all of the ingredients into a bowl and it’s time to get rolling! This was the first time I’ve added cheese to the meatballs, but I really like the extra cheesiness and texture it adds. Extra cheese is always welcome in my house! Thanks to my friends at Cabot for sending some of their shredded cheeses to try, including this whole milk mozzarella.

I formed 1-inch meatballs and placed them on a foil-lined baking sheet. If you have an oven-safe baking rack that fits a sheet pan, that would also work well for baking the meatballs.
Let the meatballs bake for about 15-18 minutes in the oven or until they are no longer pink inside. I like to heat the marinara sauce in a small saucepan over low heat and add the meatballs to the sauce just before serving. Divide the pasta among the serving bowls, top with meatballs and sauce, and add extra cheese and basil if desired. For a balanced meal, include a simple side salad or your favorite vegetable. Dinner is served, my friends!
