Coffee. Fifty-four percent of Americans drink it and some people can’t start the day without it. Today is National Coffee Day, but let’s face it, it’s ALWAYS Coffee Day for most people.
So what’s your coffee style? Black, iced, espresso, frothed with milk, or with a hint of flavoring? However you fancy your java, any of these Nashville coffee shops are sure to please. And you’re going to need something to go with that cup of joe, so I’ve listed my favorite healthy eats at each spot!
1. Frothy Monkey
Neighborhood: 12 South, downtown Nashville, & downtown Franklin, TN
Best for: Meeting up with friends for brunch, or solo work sessions
Favorite Beverage: Cafe au Lait
Favorite Healthy Eats: The California
2. Crema
Neighborhood: Downtown/Riverfront
Best for: A uniquely crafted cup of coffee with a great view of the city
Favorite Beverage: Whatever seasonal drinks are offered. Genious baristas work here so you can’t go wrong.
Favorite Healthy Eats: The options are always changing here, but I had a breakfast quinoa salad this summer that inspired me to create one of my own.
3. Dose
Neighborhood: West End
Best for: Quick stop before work or a weekend lunch
Favorite Beverage: Ginger Latte
Favorite Healthy Eats: Avocado & Tomato on Wheat Bagel
4. Portland Brew
Neighborhood: 12 South
Best for: Pre-work coffee stop, or a quiet place to work
Favorite Beverage: Just a good ‘ol Latte
Favorite Healthy Eats: I have yet to eat at Portland Brew but I hear the breakfast sandwiches are good!
5. Barista Parlor
Neighborhood: East Nashville, the Gulch, and coming soon: Germantown
Best for: An experience. The coffee-making, the atmosphere, the food…it’s unlike any other coffee shop.
Favorite Beverage: Coffee wizards work here so tell them what you like and they can recommend something special for you. But if you’re feeling fancy, try an Iced Bourbon Vanilla Latte.
Favorite Healthy Eats: Order any of the breakfast biscuit sandwiches…they’re totally worth it & made with local ingredients.
