True Food Kitchen Nashville

True Food Kitchen is open in Nashville and our bellies couldn’t be any happier.

This post is not sponsored. I received complimentary food and drinks at True Food Kitchen but was not compensated for my time. As always, opinions here are my own!

Since True Food Kitchen opened here in Nashville just a couple weeks ago, I’ve heard nothing but rave reviews from friends and fellow food bloggers. For a city that has a new restaurant opening nearly every other week, I think it says a lot that this health-focused restaurant chain is getting such positive reviews and attention. I was lucky and got to go TWICE during their preview weekend, thanks to my friend Holly of Golden Roots Nashville and the friendly folks at Phase 3 Marketing.

True Food Kitchen Preview Weekend

The Grilled Fish Tacos (pictured above) were so amazing that I had three of them the night of the preview party (they were small…kind of), when a selection of items were being served. We also had a chance to sample a few of the flatbread pizzas, like the seasonal Butternut Squash with caramelized onion, kale, almond ricotta, and dried cranberries.

The Charred Cauliflower is an appetizer on the True Food Kitchen menu that I promise can convert anyone who says they dislike cauliflower, into a cauliflower addict. They served this at the Friday night event but I only had one serving of it since I had stuffed myself with tacos, so I decided it had to be ordered again at Sunday brunch! The cauliflower is tossed in a harissa tahini with chopped dates, dill, pistachios, and mint. I’m salivating just thinking about this dish and really want to try to recreate it at home. If you’ve been to True Food Kitchen, have you tried this heavenly cauliflower??

Oh, and that pretty pink drink behind the cauliflower? That’s the Pomegranate Mimosa available on the brunch menu.

For brunch, we steered more towards breakfast items and had the Sunrise Bowl and the Garden Scramble with Chicken Sausage. I had to try their Cinnamon Vanilla Latte (pictured below) and it may be one of my new favorite lattes in town. It wasn’t overly sweet and unlike most coffee beverages, I was able to drink the entire thing without feeling super jittery afterwards.

I’m all about those runny eggs on top of my breakfast bowl! Eating this Sunrise Bowl with portobello mushrooms, a blend of ancient grains, sweet potato, and cilantro pumpkin seed pesto made me realize that I’ve been stuck in a breakfast rut for awhile. Not that I don’t enjoy my usual peanut butter + banana toast or avocado toast topped with an egg, but I think it’s time to start batch cooking some quinoa + farro and sweet potatoes on Sunday so I can recreate a bowl like this during the week. It was so satisfying!

Since it was a preview weekend, we had to get a little taste of what True Food Kitchen has to offer in the realm of desserts! The Flourless Chocolate Cake is gluten-free and topped with vanilla ice cream & cocoa nibs.

For me, the show stopper is their Squash Pie, which is vegan and gluten-free (yes, that’s coconut whipped cream on top). This was the other menu item I tried twice in one weekend because it was so dang good. I couldn’t eat the whole piece on Sunday after eating that very filling Sunrise Bowl, so I took the rest home for dessert the next day 🙂 We overheard a server tell the table next to us that this pie is the first thing he’s eaten at the start of his shift and the last thing he’s had before going home every night during his training. That’s commitment and serious pie love, and I totally understand where he was coming from. #ilovesquashpie

The menu changes seasonally and offers plenty of options for most diet modifications. All of the calorie information is also posted on the menu, if that’s something you look for when dining out. As far as pricing, the menu is moderately priced with lunch/dinner entrees ranging from $12-$26, average price around $16.

So who’s ready to come to Nashville and go to lunch at True Food Kitchen with me?! If you’ve been to one of their many other locations, let me know what you tried.
