This Week’s Nutrition Adventures

Happy Friday everyone! Nashville is hopping this week with the CMA festival, all of the watch parties for our Predators in the Stanley Cup finals, and the influx of people headed down to Bonnaroo. And the weather couldn’t be more perfect…I’m sitting on my back porch as I write this post this morning!

Have any big weekend plans or exciting events happening in your area this weekend?

Some of my friends and I are going kayaking tomorrow and I’m so excited! This will be my first time kayaking but I’ve been canoeing and tried stand-up paddle-boarding. Any tips for a first-timer?

Of course the first thing my friends and I think about is “What should we bring for snacks?!”. Typical. Pretty sure I’ll be taking some cherries along because what could be better than enjoying cherries at the lake? I’ve been snacking on cherries ALL. WEEK. LONG. #cantgetenough

My friend Holly started a local meal delivery kit service called Golden Roots Nashville and last week we had a photo shoot for her biz! It was so much fun and I’m really enjoying getting out and taking photos of things beyond my recipe creations. If you live in Nashville and need help with meal prep/planning, check out Golden Roots Nashville! Here’s one of my favorites from the day 🙂

Last Saturday, I was in a bit of a funk most of the day and decided what I needed was a good hot yoga class to get me out of my head. That’s just one reason I love practicing yoga—it requires undivided attention allowing me to forget about everything else for the duration of class. Afterwards, I felt much more focused and in better spirits. My arms were sore the next day from all of the chaturangas we did! I went to a 75-minute class at Shakti Power Yoga with ClassPass (<–referral link) which was really handy to have because I signed up just 30 minutes before class started!

On Monday, I went to a newer studio called Inner Light Yoga with a couple friends. This was my second time going to ILY and it’s always a lot of fun—they play upbeat, loud music during the practice. I snapped this photo of their entry to the studio 🙂

I was excited to be invited back to Talk of the Town on Tuesday where I shared my Grilled Hoisin Steak Salad recipe! I also demonstrated how to safely cut an avocado since there have been so many headlines recently about people going to the hospital for injuring their hand while cutting an avocado. Yikes.

Watch the full segment!

I managed to get a picture taken of myself before the segment too, which usually I forget to do!

Here’s what happened on the blog this week:

Hope you all have a great weekend!
