One of my favorite fruit combinations is blueberries and pineapple, which is the inspiration behind this smoothie. They are just “mint-to-be” together 🙂 This Wild Blueberry + Pineapple Mint-To-Be Smoothie is packed with antioxidants, fiber, manganese (important for bone development), and vitamin C (for immune health). Need help cutting into that pineapple? Try this easy way that leaves less waste!
WILD BLUEBERRIES
Now let’s talk about these gorgeous little blues! Wild blueberries are not the same as regular cultivated blueberries–in fact, they are very different! Here’s what makes Wild Blueberries so special:
- Intense Blueberry Flavor: Wild blueberries have a more intense flavor than regular blueberries and because they grow in the wild, they’re genetically diverse with thousands of interlocking plants spreading naturally across fields called barrens. It’s this diversity that gives Wild Blueberries their complex and delicious flavor — an extraordinary mix of tart and sweet.
- Antioxidant Power: Wild Blueberries have twice the antioxidant capacity of larger cultivated blueberries. A growing body of research shows the potential health benefits of Wild Blueberries including gut health, diabetes, cancer and brain health.
- Frozen at Harvest: 99% of the Wild Blueberry crop is frozen. These potent little berries are individually quick frozen (IQF) at harvest which locks in nutrition and flavor.
- Unique Heritage: Wild Blueberries are not planted and occur naturally in barrens and fields in Maine and Eastern Canada that have been here for 10,000 years
You can find wild blueberries in the frozen fruit section of your local grocery store. Just make sure the package says “wild”!
