Nashville: Best Places to Meet for Coffee

September is here, can you believe it?

With the start of the new month, I’m happy to introduce a special series all about one of my favorite cities and the place I call home, Nashville! Fellow dietitian blogger, Lindsey Joe of Handmade Healthy, and I will each be sharing a weekly post on what to see, do, and eat to experience Nashville, Like a Local, Y’all!

The coffee culture is strong in Nashville. Whether you’re meeting a colleague for coffee, or need to hunker down to work, our local shops have your back. In this post, I’m sharing where the locals go for superb coffee and great work spaces.

Nashville's Best Coffee Shops: Whether you're meeting a friend or need to get work done, these coffee shops have your back.
Pin this for your Nashville trip!

Crema
Neighborhood: Downtown
The Vibe: Clean and modern. Great outdoor patio.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing): Two words. COFFEE SODA. This is my favorite way to drink coffee in the afternoon.
The Food: On weekends, Utterly Nash sells donuts unlike any other. Get one…..or three to share. Or not.

Frothy Monkey
Neighborhood: Downtown, 12 South
The Vibe: Downtown–Relaxed and cozy. Snag a table in the upstairs loft area.
12 South–Upbeat and family-friendly. Best if you work well in busy environments.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing): Cafe au Lait
The Food: For breakfast, try the California or the whole-grain waffle. The lunch/dinner menu has something for everyone, and they offer daily specials.

Pinewood Social
Neighborhood: Downtown
The Vibe: Upbeat. Pinewood is a restaurant, coffee shop, bar, and social gathering place all in one.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing):Cappuccino
The Food: You can order anything off the full restaurant menu and they serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Steadfast Coffee
Neighborhood: Germantown
The Vibe: Simple and clean. As of this posting date, they do not have Wi-Fi, so it’s best as a meeting spot rather than a work spot if you require an internet connection.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing): Another great coffee soda here! The iced coffee is a solid choice as well.
The Food: The menu changes seasonally, but everything on it sounds amazing. It’s simple but sophisticated.

Portland Brew
Neighborhood: 12 South
The Vibe: Quiet and productive. When I need a good work environment, this is my place.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing): Dirty Chai. Chai + espresso = never drinking a regular chai latte again.
The Food: Great selection of sandwiches, including vegetarian options. And the BEST vegan muffins that you’ll never even know are vegan.

Barista Parlor
Neighborhood: East Nashville, Gulch
The Vibe: Both locations are trendy and watching the baristas is like being in a science lab. Very unique.
To Sip (if straight coffee isn’t your thing): Iced Bourbon Vanilla Latte
The Food: Order any of the breakfast biscuit sandwiches…they’re totally worth it & made with local ingredients.

  1. Thanks for sharing just in time for FNCE! Coffee soda sounds so interesting! Do any of these places offer drinks featuring dairy alternatives? I can’t wait to try one, two, or ALL of these places when I’m in town for FNCE! Will you be there this year? Maybe we’ll cross paths in the coffee shop line. 🙂

    1. Thanks for commenting, Amari! Yes, dairy alternatives are an option at any of these locations. You really MUST try a coffee soda while you’re in town. I will be at FNCE and if you need someone to grab coffee with, let me know 🙂

    1. Hi Janice! Each of the downtown coffee shops are within walking distance of the convention center. Crema & Pinewood Social are about a 10 minute walk, and Frothy Monkey is a 15 min. walk. Stay tuned for more Nashville hot spots this month!
