What I pack for conferences has changed over the y What I pack for conferences has changed over the years, especially my footwear and what I require for good sleep 😴 😂 So as I make my packing list for FNCE (Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, I thought I’d share my must-pack items…Sleeping in an unfamiliar place is always hard the first night (different noises, lights, etc) so I’ve started to pack ear plugs, an eye mask, and lavender pillow spray. It makes a world of difference for my sleep. This is vital because while one night of poor sleep may be manageable, 2+ nights of bad sleep is bad news for me!I bring my own teas to have for an afternoon pick-me-up (that isn’t caffeinated) and to wind down at night. While some hotels and conference centers may have good tea options, ya never really know so I like to be prepared with the teas I likeComfy & cute shoes are a MUST! I’ve tried several different brands over the years but these may be my favorite. These are the Allday mesh sneakers from @vivaia_officialA travel-friendly steamer is a recommendation I got from @minddietmeals a couple years ago! Ideally, I like to steam my clothes when I arrive in my hotel room if I have the extra time. At FNCE, the days can go from 7am-10pm so that doesn’t leave much time for steaming or ironing clothes!Okay, so this is something new I’m trying for FNCE! There’s so much excitement, conversation, and connection (which makes FNCE so great!) but it can be over-stimulating and challenging to turn off thoughts before bed 🧠 I’ve been taking @nowfoodsofficial Magtein (#freesample) for the last week to help with the sleep-interrupting to-do list thoughts & I feel like it’s been helpful so far, in addition to keeping my exercise routine consistent. L-theanine promotes relaxation & can quiet anxious thoughts, so I’m willing to give it a try during this particularly busy time!Snacks, obviously. Do you have any must-pack items for work travel & conferences? Share in the comments!

For the fall vibes (& smells), I love making my Pi For the fall vibes (& smells), I love making my Pistachio Cranberry Granola 🍂🍁 Nothing better than the smell of cinnamon & cardamom toasting in the oven! This is delicious paired with milk, as a topping for yogurt, stirred into applesauce, or even on its own! Save this one for your fall baking moments 🥣 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 11x17 inch baking sheet with parchment paper.2. In a large bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients.3. In a small bowl or a glass liquid measuring cup, whisk together coconut oil and maple syrup until combined.4. Pour the liquid mixture over the dry ingredients, using a plastic spatula to mix well and making sure all of the dry ingredients become coated.5. Pour granola mixture onto the lined baking sheet and spread into a thin layer. Bake for 20-22 minutes, stirring halfway through baking.6. Remove granola from oven and allow to cool on baking sheet. The granola will become crunchy as it dries out. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.#homemadegranola #fallbaking🍁🍂 #dietitianrecipes

September is National Better Breakfast Month so I’ September is National Better Breakfast Month so I’m sharing one of my favorite options for a satisfying, nutrient-rich breakfast—a bowl of cereal with milk & fruit 🥣🥛🫐Choosing a whole grain cereal with 5 grams of fiber or more per serving can make a big difference in your morning by providing longer lasting fuel for the body. Paired with milk to provide a source of protein and fat, plus fruit for more fiber and antioxidants, you have a powerful combo 💪 What’s your favorite cereal + fruit combo to enjoy for breakfast or a snack?#nationalbetterbreakfastmonth #cereal #breakfastisserved
August theme: tomatoes 🍅❤️ I’ve made two batches August theme: tomatoes 🍅❤️I’ve made two batches of tomato sauce already with garden tomatoes. I like to freeze it to use in soups and chili later in the year! To make a sauce, I roast tomatoes, onion, and garlic on a sheet pan in the oven at 375 degrees. Drizzle with olive oil, a little balsamic and some salt & pepper before they go into the oven! Roast for about 25-35 minutes. Let it cool and then process in a blender or use an immersion blender.
